It is almost impossible to work with. OpenOffice is one of the half dozen software projects I make regular donations to.

Dropped Microsoft Office many years ago. It's why I refuse to use that retroactive abortion called The Gimp. If you just do presentations once in a blue moon, Impress is fine. What really caught my attention after a few minutes of using the various OpenOffice. It can take a long while to save a large document in the native.

If your business needs don't include complex word-processing or database-management features, then OpenOffice is a bargain. OpenOffice is the open source project through which Sun Microsystems is releasing the technology for the popular StarOffice productivity suite. MultiDiff was imported too, although it was already installed for all users.

It's a terrible shame that the so-called flagship of the open software movement has become so moribund. Not a bad piece of software. This has happened more than once.

With these performance and appearance improvements, I can see more users moving to this free office suite. Dumped the oversized, overbloated and overpriced Microshaft rubbish years ago and never looked back. It's hard to explain, exactly, but I just like how it works. New plugin system is a very good feature.

LibreOffice, a fork of OpenOffice is now available for download here. The team just doesn't seem to care, and so this is really software that's being left behind. Please remember, you can save money for the people who give us this great free program!

Best of all, Apache OpenOffice can be downloaded and used entirely free of any licence fees. Now Jack in marketing, who uses a Mac, can't overwrite a change that was just made by Jill in the Windows-based comptroller's office. It's still a wee bit slow to start in Windows, but that's the only bad thing I can say about it.

Easy to use Apache OpenOffice is easy to learn, and if you're already using another office software package, you'll take to it straight away. If you at first disable it from loading at startup, but later want to have it load again, it would be simpler and more obvious if all you had to do was go to that Start Menu folder and select it.
